We submitted our input to the European Commission’s public consultation on revising the EU Standardisation Regulation. The consultation focused on making standard-setting faster, more responsive to policy needs, and more inclusive.
Based on our direct experience in CEN-CENELEC JTC21 standards development for the EU AI Act, we confirmed there are critical challenges including:
- Delays in harmonised standards delivery
- Barriers to inclusive stakeholder participation
- Inefficiencies preventing timely support for digital and green legislation
We submitted a detailed proposal for a new standardisation process that addresses these challenges and other systemic issues through streamlined procedures, substantial expert funding, a better approach to commenting, and improved governance.
